West Valley Astronomy Club

The WVAC is a friendly, engaging, and informative Astronomy Community in the West Valley. We have an exciting program of activites from September to May. We invite you all to participate in our activities. We think joining us will enhance your interest in astronomy and astroimaging while having fun at the same time. Consider becoming a member. Our active members use a variety of telescopes, mounts, cameras and electronics, do visual astronomy or electronically assisted astronomy with cameras, or astrophotography by processing many hours of data captured by electronic cameras. The NSF-DOE Vera C Rubin Observatory and the Legacy Survey or Space and Time - Bringing the Night Sky to Life

Bio:
Dr. Alan Strauss is the Head of Education and Public Outreach (EPO) for the NSF-DOE Vera Rubin Observatory, where he leads an interdisciplinary team of astronomers, writers, designers, developers and educators building web-based astronomy experiences for the public.  An amateur astronomer by training, Alan earned his PhD from the College of Education at the University of Arizona and previously worked as the Director of Steward Observatory’s Mount Lemmon SkyCenter and Sky School.
